How to add more GPIOs to ESP8266 (ESP-01)

I managed to solder small wires to tiny tiny "legs" of that tiny tiny chip, without shorting anything.

Check out how to program/flash these ESP8266 modules with Arduino IDE: https://youtu.be/48JUh8Vlea4

After initial test, I found out russians had done this before: http://esp8266.ru/esp8266-esp-01-hacked/
That's where I got the idea of extending the pin header.
Edit: After more thorough reading, thanks to a received feedback, that russian site had a reblogged this: http://tech.scargill.net/friday-morni... and this: http://www.esp8266.com/viewtopic.php?...
It seems like there was English information out there after all...

Edit: In the comment section of Hackaday post featuring this video (http://hackaday.com/2015/05/31/more-g... ), one commenter told the RX and TX pins can be used for GPIO. It seems like RX could be used as GPIO3 and TX could be used as GPIO1. So four GPIOs before modifications, if serial port isn't needed! That's plenty for me, considering I was happy with two GPIOs.
